This postcard shows a beach background: in the water, you can see the fins of sharks poking out of the water, the sky is bright. On the sand, you can find a purple beach chair, a sandcastle and a coconut tree. In the middle of the design, a big red and white warning sign with a shark icon says “don’t worry, not all sharks“
Anyone who has ever had a discussion about feminism has surely come across the phrase “not all men” which is meant to express that generally being cautious of men would be unreasonable and based on prejudice. Yes, in fact, not exactly every single man you will ever meet in your life is horrible to every other person that crosses their way. Nevertheless, we do still live in a system where being a man brings you structural advantages. It’s less about men as individuals, but more about men as a societal entity that people are cautious of. Especially if you’re not aware of any work they could have done to actively counteract the misogyny they have been raised with.
Equally, not all sharks swimming in the ocean will hurt you but, looking at general data, statistics and the way sharks are publicly perceived, being careful about how to approach them is definitely reasonable.
This design is part of my collection for March 8th, the international day of feminist fight. The purpose of this collection is to fight for the equality, autonomy and liberation of everybody who is not a cis man. The focus of intersectional feminism for this day does not only lie on cis women but also on people who are transgender nonbinary, intersex, agender, or any other gender aside from cis men ( - Even though we will embrace anybody as an ally for this movement).
The design is printed on 350g PEFC™ offset white paper in the standard DIN A6 postcard format (10,5x 14,8cm).
