My name is Darrick,
I believe in being passionate about what you do no matter what it is and that with passion in your life you are positioned to inspire others and to create your best work. It is this belief that led me to start Greenman Rustics about a year ago and later led to the creation of our Etsy Shop. .
I started Greenman Rustics after a successful 15 year career in corporate management. My life was changing, my family was growing and at the time when I should have been happiest and most passionate I felt burned out and apathetic.Something was missing, the passion and enthusiasm I once had for my chosen profession had seemed to vanish. It was time for something new so after some discussion with Michelle (my wife) and a lot of planning, Greenman Rustics was born and the next chapter in our lives began.
The inspiration for the name "Greenman Rustics" comes from our love of nature and our belief in new beginnings in life. This lies at the heart of what the "Greenman" represents. Greenman exists in many cultures although he may not be known to many, he represents rebirth, renewal and the cycle of life with the changing of the seasons. At Greenman Rustics we are inspired by this to explore our own personal relationship with nature and to cultivate a more sustainable approach to how we produce our products.
Many of our products are produced using eco friendly reclaimed materials. We reclaim wood from pallets, old barns, fences and other sources that would otherwise end up in a landfill or fire. We would describe our products as "Rustic Elegance" or "Rustic Chic". No matter how we describe them one thing rings true in every product we make. Our passion for what we do is brought out in the unique character and design of every piece we make.
Michelle's passion and creativity comes from having a family of artists and an education in Fine Arts and Photography. While my passion started as a child working with my grandfather in his shop, I have always had a talent for the building and design of many things including Furniture and Art. As a creative duo Michelle and I inspire the passion in one another to bring you decorative and functional Home Furnishings and Decor with a rustic flare.
