PATCHWORK POTS sewing pattern

This pattern is a perfect scrap busting project to make wonderful patchwork, scallop edge fabric pots. You can tailor make your pots to suit your plants or use to store your crafty bits and bobs.
The pots can be be made free standing or suspended with cord at a window- its up to you!
This easy to make fun pattern includes full size templates for two pot diameter sizes: small 13cm (5") or large 18cm (7") and an easy to follow step by step colour photo/illustrated instruction booklet. LEVEL: beginners.
The pots can be made in a choice of two versions: Version A which is segmented all around the side edge and Version B has a top border band, as well as segments of different fabric along the lower side (see image 6). You can also stitch on an optional trimming such as Ric-Rac or little pom-poms along the seam line as an extra feature.
Transparent PVC can be added to the lining but this is not essential, alternatively, you can just pop a plastic container inside to protect the base (empty hummus pots or a small plastic bag are good).
Please note: I do recommend watering the plant outside of the pot and replacing when all the excess water has drained off, but I do this anyway with all my plants.

One pot requires the following:
OUTER FABRIC- five pieces measuring 20cm x 20cm (8" x 8").
LINING FABRIC- 25cm x 112cm (1/4 yd x 44").
INTERFACING (heavy weight fusible)- one piece approx. 50cm x 90cm (1/2yd x 1yd).
CLEAR TRANSPARENT PVC FABRIC (optional) -one piece approx. 25cm x 90cm (10” x 35”).
TRIMMING (for version B)- such as Ric-Rac, ribbon or Pom Pom trimming. Large pot requires a 60cm length, 15mm (5/8”) wide.
Small pot requires a 50cm length, 10mm (3/8”) wide.
COTTON CORD (for hanging pot only) 5mm (1/4”) width. Small & large pot requires 2m (2yds).
WOODEN RING – one ring per pot measuring approx. 2.5cm-4cm (1”-1 1⁄2”)
CARDBOARD – a 15cm x !5cm (6” x 6”) piece of sturdy cardboard.
