This is an organic dehydrated active sourdough bread starter culture created by Wild Bluebell Co and it comes packaged and ready for use. It is dried so you can also store it until you are ready to use it.

You will receive 20g of starter, which is more than enough to get you started on your bread-making journey. This is a beautifully active starter that will have you baking bread in 5 - 7 days and then for years to come with regular care and feedings.

Our starter is a 75-year-old ITALIAN starter that produces a wonderfully tangy sour taste without much effort. Your starter has been fed only Organic Anita's Mill Unbleached White flour. You can feed it the flour of your choice but to begin activation you should choose a non-bleached All Purpose white flour until your starter is ready for baking bread.

We know that starting to make sourdough bread can be exciting but also a little overwhelming and scary because there is so much information out there so we have tried to make it as simple and fun as possible. We believe that everyone should be able to bake bread if they want to.

Your starter will be mailed to you FREE OF CHARGE (within Canada) and it will come with an informational postcard that gives you detailed instructions on how to get your starter activated. You will also find a QR code on the back of your card that links you to videos on our website for you to watch. You will also find our tried and tested sourdough bread recipe which is perfect for beginners. We are visual learners so we thought you might be too!

You will also have access to additional information and a basic sourdough recipe on our website.

PLEASE NOTE - a digital kitchen scale will be needed for both the starter and the bread recipe.

No commercial yeast is required and this starter will last for a lifetime of bread making with a simple feeding schedule of flour and water.

PLEASE NOTE - Free shipping in Canada is by regular mail with Canada Post. We will always mail your order within two days of receiving notification but we can not guarantee when it will arrive. Usually, it is within a week but at certain times of the year especially Christmas and New Year these times may be greatly increased. Shipping to elsewhere is by tracked mail.
