30 DAYS (Time is Now)
© Joanna Tilsley 2014
A gold-foiled soft-cover collection of 30 illustrated poems about nature, science and cosmology, including end notes to help you understand the scientific basis of each poem.
This ‘quantum poetry’ reflects my abiding love of nature, and my deep awe of the mysteries of space and time. I wrote and illustrated these poems simultaneously, using my vast collection of scanned vintage paper ephemera and illustrations, and old typewriter fonts, which I digitally manipulated and messed about with to create montage backdrops for the poems. (N.B. I've had to remove full-page images of the poems from this listing due to ongoing piracy issues.)
’30 Days’ has so far sold in 28 countries worldwide, and was listed by ‘The Marginalian‘ as one of the best science books of 2014 – sharing a list with Edward O. Wilson.
Individual poems from the book have featured in exhibitions and events at The Exploratorium in San Francisco, USA; the ZKM | Center for Art and Media in Karlsruhe, Germany; and at the Io Gallery, in Brighton’s Lanes, UK. In May 2018, the poem ‘Holometabolism’ was published as part of Tumblehome Learning Inc’s ‘Seven Stories about the Moon and 100 Other Science Poems’. The poem ‘Black Hole’ received an honourable mention in the 2014 Astronomers Without Borders’ Global Astronomy Month Astropoetry Contest. In 2022, the poem ‘Time’ was published by Three Ravens Publishing as part of the anthology ‘Your Call Is Very Important To Us’, to raise funds for the combat veterans charity ‘We Defy Foundation’.
I only had 1000 copies of this collection printed, and am now down to the last box of 100. When they're gone they're gone.
