I rolled the clay out and cut it out in the shape of a garden trowel. I impressed small leaves as an accent, and I then pressed in letters to spell out the words "Salad Garden". After the plaque dried, it went through a first firing. I glazed the leaves and put oxides on the letters, and left the rest of the clay natural.
It then went through a second, higher temperature firing.
On the handle is a piece of dark green suede cord, so if desired it can hang from your fence or wall. If used as a garden marker, I recommend that you take care pushing it into the ground.
