Keichousaurus was a marine that lived between
-225 and 250 million years ago, with the average size of these animals being 6”.
The taxon is well-studied because many specimens of females containing embryos in the abdominal cavity have been found in the past, a fact which has also allowed researchers to establish beyond doubt a clear sexual dimorphism between the two genders of this animal.

For example, male and female remains of this species can be distinguished on the basis of their forelimb bones, which are much thicker in males. Therefore, it is reasonably certain that we are looking at a male specimen here.
