The Beaver Lever Kindling Cutter
Dispatches from a small business in
Greetings from Rob and Nathan Loucks of The Beaver Lever Company!
The Beaver Lever Kindling Cutter is a safe, simple and effective way to split your firewood kindling when and where you want it!
Standard Model comes with high quality carbon steel blade.
Designed for use with straight-grained wood up to 16" in length.
Our customers love our product for a variety of reasons:
Safety: The Beaver Lever employs leverage force, which is applied in a controlled and accurate
manner. Many people, despite their best efforts never become comfortable swinging an
axe or a hatchet. This becomes frustrating for them over time as they become dependent
on others for making kindling. The Beaver Lever has proven to be a good option for many
people who simple do not feel comfortable with an axe or hatchet.
Convenience: This is actually the main reason that the Beaver Lever exists! Having no garage, and often
running out of stock-piled kindling mid-Winter (yes, make your jokes!), Nathan grew tired
of splitting kindling outside! Now the Beaver Lever offers a great way to split kindling, as-
needed, right by the fireplace. By the way, the Jotul 602 cast iron stove shown in the
photos is the one in Nathan's living room. Like the Beaver Lever, it is small but mighty!
Accessible: An off-shoot benefit that we frankly had not anticipated is that the Beaver Lever is proving
to be a great option for people who have difficulty splitting kindling due to a physical
condition. We have had many customers purchase this item because they have developed
arthritis or another condition that makes swinging a hatchet unbearable for them. The
Beaver Lever has become an invaluable tool for them!
If you have made your way here, we might assume that you either burn wood or you know someone who does and that you are curious about this thing called The Beaver Lever Kindling Cutter.
In a nutshell, we are two cousins who had an idea and who decided to make something of it! We have worked hard since 2013 to develop and improve our patented kindling cutting tool and bring it to market.
The Beaver Lever is 100% our design and we assemble each one by hand. Over the years, we have received great feedback from our customers. It gives us a great deal of confidence knowing that our product has proven itself to be useful for so many people. We hope that you take the time to check out our website, watch the videos and send us any questions that you might have.

Got this the day before mailing Christmas cutoff due to the labour strike! Not your fault. Amazing, and my DH is awed by the workmanship and quality. Definitely a worthwhile experience and tool to add to our home heating arsenal. We heat with wood only in Northern SK. So you can imagine we go through a lot of kindling. Everything was professional. The only thing is I'm wondering what the leather strap really does, but I don't see the point of it. Otherwise, perfection!
A stunning piece of hardware. Works like a charm but on softer wood , i tried of birch and ash with varying results. Birch is much better, ash not so much but overall definitely a great buy. Wish the bolt held tighter. The bottom plate starts to give when used with harder woods.
I asked my boyfriend to pick up a bag of kindling for me and he came home with an axe instead. I wish he had come home with The Beaver Lever. For the first time I was able to fill my kindling bucket and it only took me about an hour to fill it (big ash bucket I use to hold the kindling). It did take a little getting use to, to get a good rhythm going. First time I tried it use it was in the house by the fireplace. I'm guessing it's cause of the wood I was using but I did find that it still made a bit of a mess. I also found it easier to use on the table out in my shed instead of on the floor but that's just cause I don't find the floor very comfortable. I'm not very comfortable with an ax but I am with the Beaver Lever and I think it will make dealing with the wood stove easier this winter!
This is a clever tool! It's made my life alot easier and I've bolted it to the floor for more stability (but also it looks pretty sweet!) Thank you.
