It's always a good idea however to remove any jewelry before swimming and exercising, and to avoid contact with chemicals and perfumes as much as possible. Our little bronze Scarab Beetle necklace almost looks as good on the back as it does the front. This is another of my wife's designs, and her circular motif on the underside of the little beetle really makes this piece stand out. The scarab beetle was the ancient Egyptian symbol of rebirth and good fortune, and it was often represented throughout their hieroglyphs as the bringer of the sun.

It measures 30mm from tip to tail (not including the jump ring) and about 13mm across its widest point. I wanted to incorporate the sun idea into the piece, and also include a proportionate jump ring to compliment it.

The piece was hand carved, cast in bronze, and after hand finishing this piece had a patina applied to make all the detailing on its shell and underside stand out. After a thorough polish, the piece then is protected against tarnishing – unlike untreated bronze, this little guy will stay shiny for years. For someone who lives for the sun, that’s a good look.

The scarab comes on your choice of chain or leather - all leather necklaces are adjustable and come with our signature Lost Apostle clasp (shown in the last photo).
