- Are Nixie tubes dangerous?
No. Nixie lamps work as neon lamps. The glow discharge technology that is used
in all Nixie clocks is 100% harmless. The cathode filaments in the bulbs light up in
neon gas when electric current switches them against the anode mesh. Power
