Framed Insect Art by an Entomologist
Bug Under Glass began over 20 years ago as a way to combine my Master’s degree in Conservation Biology with my passion for storytelling through the insect world. As a biologist, I believe that every insect has a story to tell—and when we take time to hear these stories, we're more likely to value and protect the ecosystems they belong to.
From the start, sustainability has been central to my work. Every specimen I use is ethically and responsibly sourced, and my studio follows eco-conscious practices. While living in San Francisco, Bug Under Glass became the first and only insect-related business to earn Green Business Certification from the city—a commitment I’ve carried forward ever since.
What sets my work apart is a combination of scientific training, museum-quality craftsmanship, and a deep love for the natural world. Each framed display features archival materials, 99% UV-blocking glass, and a museum-style label that shares the story behind the specimen—making every piece both educational and enduring.
My work has been featured by Pottery Barn, West Elm, the National Archives, Apartment Therapy, Herman Miller, HGTV Magazine, and the San Francisco Chronicle, and is currently on exhibit at Ripley’s Believe It or Not Museum in Hollywood.
Today, I live just north of San Francisco with my wife (a dedicated school teacher), a cute rescue puppy, and our two sons—one of whom is proudly named after a famous entomologist.
