I shouldn't have quit my day job. Oh well.
Cole-Yoni Card Co. was inspired one Christmas Eve in 2017. It was the year I had decided to cheap out on everyone’s gift. Instead, I made each member of my family a custom Christmas card. Each one featured an average illustration of the family member along with one of their famous or memorable quotes. Some examples include, “I actually fucking hate Christmas” and “I don’t give a shit”. They went over well. Not only was I forgiven for skimping out on presents, but my cousin casually suggested, “You should start a card company.”
A year and a half later, I started a card company.
Although, not without hesitation. I humbly admit, my background in illustration started out as a kid when I would redraw Archie comic book characters whilst on the toilet. I haven’t had any formal training since. Needless to say, I was nervous to try and turn my hobby into a legitimate business. But with the support of my colourful array of family and friends, I decided to give it a try.
It was my goal to create a collection for those of us who don’t take ourselves too seriously. Cards that were more sass than sap. Cards too hot for Hallmark but not too hot for the holidays. Because sometimes, our sentiments need a little spice. And I hope Cole-Yoni Card Co. can be there to provide you with the right amount. Enough to put a smile on your face rather than a streak in your panties.
