DobbinBots - Robot sculptures and original acrylic paintings
I got started building bots years ago when my son was still in public school. We each had workbench space in the front shop of the barn where we would work on projects. He actually gave me the best piece of advice about my creative process. His advice was to not agonize over every detail (which was bogging me down), but to just go for it, have fun! I retired a few years ago after 33 years in public library service. It is wonderful to be able to spend more time on creative endeavours.
I now occupy the full shop and have been building Steampunk-inspired robots, vintage tin bots, and Jules Verne inspired nautilus submarines. I love working with brass and copper found objects and creating fun bots. I have learned so much from my husband who taught me how to solder and to not be afraid of the propane torch, how to use a tap and die set, and drill press. All necessary skills to have when working with metal. He also keeps an eye out for supplies, nuts and bots, and drill bits (lots of drill bits).
My husband and I started doing art and craft shows in and around our area a few years ago. The feedback from these shows, family and friends has inspired me to setup a shop here. I hope you like the robots and that they make you smile.
I recently added some of my original acrylic paintings to the shop. Some of them are fun robot selfie paintings along with others of realistic objects that I enjoy collecting and painting.
Thank you for visiting my shop!
