If you are interested in all-naturally dyed wool and silk roving, art batts and rolags, this is the place to be. Craft tools as well as fiber art are also always available!

There are currently over 40 naturally dyed shades available, on fibre such as Romney, Merino, Alpaca, Mohair, Cotswold and tussah silk.
Natural, undyed wool is also available from breeds such as Romney, merino, Icelandic, Cotswold, mohair, alpaca and other seasonally available fibre.

For more than 22 years I have been fascinated by what nature provides for the creative realm.

The idea of dyeing with natural dye substances was inspired by my close connection to our local Waldorf (Steiner) school.
Unlike synthetic colours, which are mono-chromatic, natural dyes create a variety of colours in each dye bath, and unlike synthetic colours, each shade goes harmonically with every other shade, never clashing.

At Fairy Tale Wool we pay attention to all processes, starting with the origin, proximity and quality of the sheered fleece and ending with appeal and convenience of the finished product.
All fibre, except for fine merino roving and tussah silk roving, are carefully selected, sorted, washed by hand, naturally hand dyed, and finally teased/ carded and packaged.
It's important to us that everything used in our processes comes from the shortest distance possible. We also use dye recipes which use the least amount of water and mordants possible and achieve as many shades possible in each dye batch without compromising colourfastness.

If you are looking for a specific shade and cannot find it, please send me a direct message. Chances are that I can produce it. Exceptions are bright turquoise and azure.

A word on shipping!

US customers, please note:
Tariffs plus fees and duties are still in effect when ordering from Canada, currently 10%. These have to be paid upfront by us (Delivery Duty Paid) and are reflected in the price of the products. The level of tariffs might change depending on the latest orders by the administration . Not all of our products are currently available for shipping to the US as we are trying to figure things out.

Orders of CAN$100 and more (before taxes) are shipping for free to the US. Please use a current currency converter when ordering, then use code FREESHIP when checking out

Canadian customers, please note:
There are a few flat rate shipping options available within Canada ($18, $21, $25 and $35, depending on volume, max. weight 5kg) for combined orders which Etsy won't list. For weights up to 200 grams there is also a regional xpress option of CA$18 for orders within BC, to Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Thunder Bay. Etsy doesn’t list this option, either.
So some shipping fees that you see quoted for my products at checkout seem horrendous. I will, however, always choose the cheapest option and will combine products in a shipment and will therefore refund any differences as soon as your order ships. There is also a promo code FREESHIP if your order adds up to CAN$100 or more (before taxes).

If you need expedited, Xpress or prefer tracked shipping internationally (to be recommended to certain countries), please contact me prior to ordering and I create a reserved listing with increased cost of shipping for you.

International orders of CAN$100 and over (before VAT/ taxes) will ship for half the cost of shipping. The other half will be refunded once shipped.
