The story behind First Impression Woodcrafts
Hello my name is Dave,
Welcome to my shop. Here is a little bit about me and why I opened my shop.
While always creating on a much larger scale with construction and renovations, which included a lot of large scale fire, flood and disaster work. Don't get me wrong it was very rewarding to be able to help other people in their time of need or to make their homes and properties healthy once again. However, there was a downside, no matter how good the top of the line safety equipment you wear was, over time exposure starts to affect your body. Being exposed to these very bad conditions over time it caught up with me and my health started to gradually take a bad beating. After a conversation with my Dr. He told me in no uncertain terms it was time to change before any more damage was done. As I was still at a point the body should mostly recover over an extended period on its own with only mild medications.
This came as shock to me and left me with the derided big question "What Now". My Better half and I had a lengthy conversation where she asked what I Really wanted to do? and to sit down and really think it through. After seriously thinking about it, my true passion was to create on a much smaller and a much more personal scale. I wanted to make wooden toys for kids and adults alike to be enjoyed for many years to come. I truly find the best reward is knowing what I do is appreciated and enjoyed by others as much as I enjoy creating the projects myself. This was the perfect answer to that big question the perfect fit.
After many years of very fine detail workmanship on a much larger scale it came as a natural fit and transition to smaller more intricate craftsmanship. While a bit of a learning curve and a different direction. It is personally rewarding to hold the finished product and great joy as each one is shipped off to a new home to share the joy only handmade items can.
