What is a wholecloth quilt?

A wholecloth quilt is constructed using two pieces of quilting cotton (one on top and one on bottom) with batting sandwiched in between. The layers are sewn (“quilted”) together and bound. This differs from a traditional quilt where the top is pieced together using many small units of fabric. Both styles can be equally charming, warm, and last for many many years.
