Las cosas tienen una forma de bola de nieve.
Gracious, Good comenzó como un blog. En realidad, había otro blog, pero a mis amigos les gustó más cuando hablé de relojes y joyas vintage y me animó a centrarme más en esos temas.
Después de un tiempo, la gente escribía y preguntaba si podían comprar ciertos artículos. Casi al mismo tiempo, me di cuenta de que tenía demasiadas joyas porque estaba obsesionando las subastas y las tiendas de segunda mano en busca de grandes puntajes sobre los que pudiera escribir en el blog.
En el verano de 2012, algunos amigos de amigos estaban iniciando el Junction Flea en Toronto. Estaban buscando vendedores y pensé que sería una buena oportunidad para ver si realmente podía ser un comerciante. La Pulga fue tan divertida que me mantuve en ella (mencioné que tengo muchas joyas). Los visitantes de la mesa Gracious, Good seguían preguntando si tenía una tienda de Etsy, así que en octubre abrí esta tienda.
Me encanta poder dar a los objetos bonitos una segunda (o tercera) vida. Citando a Elizabeth Taylor: "Espero que quien compre cada pieza la ame tanto como yo y la cuide y se dé cuenta de que tener joyas es un regalo temporal. En verdad, nosotros los 'dueños' somos solo los cuidadores".
Things have a way of snowballing.
Gracious, Good started out as a blog. Actually, there was another blog, but friends liked it best when I discussed vintage watches and jewellery and encouraged me to focus more on those subjects.
After a while, folks would write and ask if they could purchase certain items. Around the same time I realized that I had too much jewellery because I was haunting auctions and thrift stores looking for big scores that I could write about on the blog.
In the summer of 2012, some friends of friends were starting up the Junction Flea in Toronto. They were looking for vendors and I thought it would be a good opportunity to see if I could actually be a merchant. The Flea was so much fun that I kept at it (did I mention that I have a lot of jewellery). Visitors to the Gracious, Good table kept asking if I had an Etsy store, so in October I opened up this shop.
I love being able to give pretty objects a second (or third) life. To quote Elizabeth Taylor: "I hope that whoever buys each piece loves it as much as I do and takes care of it and realizes that having jewelry is a temporary gift. In truth, we ‘owners’ are just the caretakers."
