Archival and Modern
My creative process began with a private archive: a 1950s black velvet half-hat inherited from my great-grandmother, its silk veiling still holding the structural tension of a bygone era. This single piece—alongside the bold, utilitarian geometry of 1930s cloches and the subversive silhouettes of Y2K headwear—became the blueprint for my studio.
HLWModeCollection is a reimagining of these historical anchors. I do not create "retro" accessories; I deconstruct vintage proportions to create modern face architecture. The Craft: Every piece is a study in contrast. I pair the aggressive structure of Mid-Century millinery with contemporary, high-performance materials—metallic-infused netting, iridescent polymers, and crisp blend fabrics.
Established in 2002 as a design study and custom side hustle, the 2026 Collection marks the official opening of the HLWModeCollection online atelier. Each headpiece is handcrafted in limited studio runs for the vanguard who views fashion as a sculptural medium.
