LittleLocus began with a map — a map of a street half a world away.
Our founder grew up in Hong Kong and left for school in the UK. Life, then
work, kept him there for years, in a city he came to love. But the places he
loved as a child never went anywhere; they only got farther away. The school
where he learnt to read. The house he grew up in. The streets where he stood
with family and friends. A phone screen could show him those places, but a
photograph stays where it belongs to you — it doesn't come with you, it only
reminds you.
What he wanted was something he could hold.
So LittleLocus began to engrave maps into small, real objects. Coins you can
slip into a pocket. Landscapes carved in relief, so you can feel the shape of
the ground under your fingertips. Because a memory you can touch stays closer
than one you can only look at — the emotion gains depth the moment it rests in
your hand instead of your screen.
Everything we make is small, and that is where the name comes from: a *little
locus* — a little location. Not the whole world, just your corner of it,
rendered with care.
LittleLocus is made by computer engineers, and it shows in how the shop works.
There are no ready-made designs to choose from — just a few clicks, and the
place that matters to you is engraved, exactly how you pictured it. In a few
days, you'll be holding it in your hands: a little treasure for yourself, or a
gift for someone you love.
We believe the best gift is not the place itself, but what it does to the
person holding it: your childhood street, their first home, the corner where
you both once stood — in their hand, wherever life has taken them.
