Local Animal Project comenzó centrándose en las especies nativas de Colorado en peligro de extinción. Sin embargo, como los animales no reconocen las fronteras estatales, el enfoque cambió. El proyecto presenta animales cuyos hábitos migratorios los han llevado a las Montañas Rocosas, que las han convertido en su hogar desde hace unos pocos cientos o miles de años. También se incluyen animales no amenazados, que representan el equilibrio y la naturaleza simbiótica de todas las criaturas, en peligro o no, necesarios para un ecosistema saludable y funcional.
Con el tiempo he hecho mi propia migración. Local Animal Project ha abarcado diferentes partes del mundo, trayendo la idea de que dondequiera que estemos, somos locales y tenemos una responsabilidad con nuestro hogar.
Local Animal Project started off as a focus on endangered native Colorado species. However, as animals don’t recognize state lines, the focus changed. The project features animals whose migratory habits have brought them to the Rocky Mountains, who have made it their home from anywhere between a few hundred to thousands of years. Non-threatened animals are included as well, representing the balance and symbiotic nature of all creatures, endangered or not, necessary to a healthy, functioning ecosystem.
Over time I have done my own bit of migration. Local Animal Project has gone on to encompass different parts of the world, bringing the idea that wherever we are, we are local, and we have a responsibility to our home.
