Nice to meet you!
I started making my own clothing because I have always loved costumes, and fell in love with gothic lolita fashion before it was widely available for US consumption.
My family has had an alteration shop for 3 generations so my mother was able to give me a great foundation in basic sewing. I moved on from there into practicing and making my own garments for about 2 years, before taking on one of my first commissions in 2008. From there I moved into making some ready to wear items, generally altering existing store bought patterns.
Now, I am currently enrolled at a patternmaking school in San Francisco, and interning at a local bridal couturier, all geared towards honing my skills and being a true designer. Each piece I make has a lot of my time, thought, and care put into it, and each piece is a learning experience.
My personal aesthetic is constantly changing. Lately, I've been very inspired by Dolly Kei and vintage Gunne Sax dresses, so you may see more of that come through.
Soon I plan to branch out into having some pieces contracted out once I get the samples perfected. I look forward to sharing those experiences with you soon.
