It's a decent item, although it's tricky to assemble and the shirt doesn't come in sizes.

Because shirts in the 18th century were not in sizes. This pattern doesn't make a costume shirt, but a true replica shirt.

the pattern is pretty straight forward, especially if you actually read it and don't just assume, not that I did that. I've never dealt with a garment this fitted, and I was able to figure out most of the measurements to just about right fairly quickly and easily.

Some instructions are not the clearest and require to do some digging into video tutorials to understand it fully. But there is not a lot of evening coat pattern out there so it is still precious, thank you

I am a confident beginner and wanted to make a doublet for a film project. The background information on the doublet was amazing. Very thorough. The directions were a bit minimalist for me, but I am sure for even a bit more of an advanced sewist it would have made more sense. I just had to use my seam ripper a lot. The only heads up I wanted to include in my review is the wings on the sleeves. The doublet directions don't include how to add the wings, so I decided to go without them. But after I was done I found the directions to add them in the Soldier's Coat section. I made a note in my file, but hopefully that helps someone. Overall, a pattern I would recommend.

Thanks for the extensive review, Kelsey. You did not find instructions for the Wing in the doublet instructions because there are no wings on the original doublet upon which this pattern is based. Thye are included in the Soldier's Coat section because there were wings on the soldier's coat we examined for the pattern. Thanks for recommending our pattern.
