It's not actually a secret...
I had a stained glass craft business for many years until tendon surgery in 2010. I learned I couldn't continue making my glass art full time anymore, so I started working at Secret Storage Books while I recovered. Secret Storage Books was a great place to work! And it was for sale! Two years later and I have taken the helm and moved the craft studio to it's new location here on Northern Vancouver Island.
My house and 1/2 acre are now bursting with old books, paper cutters, saws, fancy printers, and of course, finished bookboxes. We've given up a back bedroom (for the office) the garage (for shipping and inventory) and half of husband Craig's workshop (for the 1910 cast iron paper cutter that weighs a least a ton). We added a workshop in the back yard and converted a closet into an office supply cabinet.
Sheldon and Laurie and Jayne help out with production, and daughter Cathleen with the art work and overflow production as well as the Craft Shows in Vancouver. My husband Craig is truly my partner, strong back and rock!
The business has been going strong for over 15 years, so we know our bookboxes last!
Mainly I love bringing value and worth to discarded objects. I think our bookboxes are a truly great gift: thoughtful, personal, and useful. And re-purposed!
