ABOUT US
Sort of Sisters is a small business started by aunt-niece duo, Ashes and Sammy, in Georgia, USA. We grew up together, so we’re sort of sisters!
We started out as a Twitch Channel on April 2nd, 2022 during the latter half of the pandemic. At that time I, Ashes, ran our old small business Le Fabuleux Geek Boutique, LLC with my mother. She announced she would be retiring, which led us to shut down our old shop. With our little community growing on Twitch, Sammy and I decided to expand by opening our own small business together.
We are constantly inspired by the world around us; whether it's an inside joke, the wonders of nature, a gorgeous art piece, or the wonders of storytelling. We are always looking for new and unique ideas to bring into the world. Stories, myths, tropes, games, etc. They all live on inside us long after we experience them. A character is never just a character. A book always contains a universe of its own. A show, movie, or game can teleport us to another dimension. An art piece is a portal through time. If you've ever felt this way, you are not alone. We understand how you feel because we feel it too.

Q) What are your candles made of? Are they eco-friendly and safe?

We are passionate about all of our products! While we are new to non-candle products, we have 6+ years of candle-making experience from the old family business and we always do our best to craft a high-quality product.

SCENT THROW
Our candles are made with the maximum amount of oils recommend for soy wax by the fragrance suppliers. If you’re having a hard time smelling the candle try placing it in a smaller room or using more than one candle for a large room. Our candles vary in strength; most will fill a small room with scent, but not necessarily a large open area. Also, make sure you are not simply getting used to the smell by stepping out of the room your candle is in or shutting the room’s door to strengthen the scent. We use a mixture of both natural and synthetic fragrance oils.
APPEARANCE & QUALITY
Our candles are homemade and hand-poured with all-natural wax in small batches. Colors and appearance may vary from featured photos. Due to the all-natural wax, these cosmetic imperfections may occur; frosting (white patchy texture on the side of the jar), wet spots (when wax doesn't fully detach from the jar), dye spots (spots of dark color), and uncentered wicks (we are only human).
These "imperfections" are unique and natural characteristics of all-natural soy wax candles and should not affect the scent or performance of your candles. We work hard to eliminate these imperfections, but it's not possible 100% of the time. A lot of these issues may occur due to temperature changes while shipping (when the package is out of our care).
Q) How do I properly care for my candle?
FIRE SAFETY:
➥ Keep clear of flammable items.
➥ Use caution when burning around children and pets.
➥ Never leave a lit candle unattended.
➥ Be sure to blow out the candle when finished and upon leaving the house.
BURN DIRECTIONS:
We recommend allowing wax to reach a full pool on each burn; meaning the liquid wax surrounds all sides of the jar and not just the middle. This can take 2-3 hours. If this is not attainable at least allow wax to reach a full pool on the first burn. This helps guide future burns and to achieve a decent scent throw. After each burn, trim the wick 1/4" to keep the flames in control and keep the wick clean. Untrimmed wicks may develop a bulb and that may cause soot (black smoke).

Please keep out of reach of children and pets. Dispose of the backing responsibly to prevent a child or pet from consuming the liner.
Q) How do I properly care for my sticker?
Our stickers are wonderful for a water bottle, tumbler, laptop, notebook, journal, etc! However, if placed on a water bottle, we suggest handwashing with a soft cloth or sponge to limit scrubbing on or around the sticker as this will prevent scratching/damaging the design. Also, the high heat temperature of a dishwasher could damage the water-based adhesive.

We are about the planet and everything that lives on it! We only use crystal suppliers who meet all the following requirements.

Q) What are your processing times? Do you ship to my country?
PROCESSING & SHIPPING TIME
Our current processing time before shipping is 3-10 business days depending on the product. You will receive a tracking notification once your item has been shipped. We ship all packages with Flat Rate shipping through USPS. Most of the time, we fill orders in the order received.
International orders take approximately 2-3 weeks to arrive from the shipment date. International orders may have additional customs fees and/or tariffs depending on your country. You, the buyer, are responsible for paying these costs. We currently DO NOT only ship to: Germany or France. Sticker-only orders DO NOT have tracking at this time because they are sent in regular envelopes with stamps.
Q) My item never arrived, what do I do?
LOST/STOLEN/DELAYED ORDERS
Unfortunately, once we deliver your order to USPS, it's out of our control.
If an item is marked as "Delivered" and you have not received it, follow these steps:
1) Verify the shipping address is correct.
2) Check with anyone who might have received the package for you (i.e. family member, friend, neighbor, etc.).
3) Contact or visit your local post office to see if they're holding the package or have any further information.
4) If 21 days have passed since the initial shipment and you've done steps 1-3 send us a message to let us know.
We are not responsible for lost or stolen packages. Once a package is marked "Delivered" USPS considers their job done. At that point, we cannot file an insurance claim.
Q) Can I return or exchange an item?
RETURNS, REFUNDS, & CANCELLATIONS
We accept returns on unlit candles only; items must be in their original condition. The buyer is responsible for shipping the items back to us. We will refund the cost of the items, but not the original shipping fees as those have already been paid to USPS.
Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis. However, we do not refund for cosmetic or aesthetic reasons. Read more about these under "APPEARANCE & QUALITY".
We accept cancellations within 24 hours of the order. We do not accept exchanges.

We pride ourselves on our good customer service and encourage you to reach out to us if you have any problems with your order. We will work hard to make sure your experience is a positive one!
