Welcome to Specimental: custom made-to-order pieces hand-built by me in my East Vancouver, Canada studio

Made by hand by me in my Vancouver, Canada home studio since 2008. I am an independent jeweller who designs and hand-builds one-of-a-kind and bespoke rings, earrings, necklaces, and bracelets. I work in fully recycled metals, and wherever possible use gemstones that have been ethically sourced, cut, and (where possible) purchased directly from the miner and/or stonecutter.

Why buy your raw diamond ring from Specimental?

A raw diamond is an exceptionally difficult stone to set properly. Their unique shape means that a custom setting needs to be fabricated for each and every stone. The way in which the setting is closed around the diamond must be approached in a very particular fashion.

I have been setting raw diamonds into my rings since 2009, when only a small handful of jewelers were working with this type of stone. As the appeal of the raw diamond has exploded, countless numbers of jewelers are now incorporating them into their designs. I have set thousands of raw diamonds into my pieces since 2009. Our hands are busy objects, and any ring worn on a finger can become accidentally damaged. All rings need regular maintenance. Make sure you are buying your raw diamond ring from a jeweler with the knowledge and experience needed to ensure your stone stays put. Ask them about their warranty and their repair/upkeep policy. Look at how frequently they work with raw diamonds, and assess whether they have the technical experience to create a ring that will last your lifetime.

I stand behind each piece of jewellery I make. If something goes wrong with your ring, at any time- you slam your finger in a drawer and crush the band, you break a prong, you smash and crack your stone- you can count on me to support you with the repair.

As a single mom/only parent, this business is the main way in which I support my three children. I take the running of my business very seriously- our livelihood depends upon me providing you with the best built, best designed piece of jewellery possible.

All pieces are created by me in my Vancouver, Canada, studio.


RAW DIAMOND SIZING: I have a huge collection of conflict-free rough diamonds, and they are my favourite specimens to work with. I have finally started sorting my white and silver crystal cluster diamonds by size, and have made listings for each size category. The categories are Size A (1.5-2mm), Size B (3.5-4mm), Size C (5-6mm), Size D (6.25-7.5mm), Size E (+7.5-9mm), and Huge (done by caratweight, over 9mm).

My rough diamonds are sourced from a small number of reputable dealers who source their stones from conflict-free countries. All of my diamonds comply with the United Nations Kimberley Process (KPC) guidelines.

PRODUCTION TIME- PLEASE READ:

Please be sure to check my current production time and your delivery time BEFORE you purchase. My current production times are listed at the top- look way up.

This production time CAN BE LONGER, as I am a very busy one-person studio. SHIPPING TIMES are also listed- if the shipping time is longer than you wish, please ask for a postal upgrade. Please make note of this information before your purchase, and ask any questions about rush orders or postal upgrades prior to checking out.

Most of my pieces are made-to-order. Please see individual listings, which will state whether the piece is custom, or ready to ship.

If you have a firm 'need by' date, please make sure you let me know- otherwise, I will do my best to produce your piece in the abovementioned timeframe, but please understand that this can take longer- I am an extremely busy one-person show


INSURANCE AND SHIPPING-

I ship your piece fully insured, with a tracking number, and delivery confirmation (signature upon delivery required). I use Canada Post, who will hand off to your country's postal service.

Overnight Fed Ex is available as a shipping upgrade in Canada and the USA. Contact me for the cost of this upgrade to your location.

BUYERS OUTSIDE OF CANADA AND THE USA: Please note that I am not able to estimate for you what your country will charge you in import fees when you buy a piece from me. Any import fees, taxes, brokerage fees, etc. are assessed by your government. These fees cannot be estimated nor collected by me (unless you are in Canada), and are not included on your invoice from me. Please call your country's customs office if you would like an idea of fees that may be levied upon your purchase.
