Finding the slow path to Sustainable Fashion

What is Sustainable Fashion? Why should I care about organic material? What difference does it make who made my clothes? What do I do about it?

Perhaps you ask these questions to yourself and have become overwhelmed by the answers or lack there of. Maybe you don't know where to start or if the choices you are making really matter. Maybe you know exactly what you are looking for!
Regardless of how you came to my small shop I am so glad you are here.
These are questions that have both started my journey and sustain me as I go along. They keep me learning and growing and asking more questions, and I hope I never stop asking!

Sustainable Fashion can mean a multitude of things. For ThreadEthic it means a piece of clothing that has been made without causing harm. I choose materials that are grown naturally without pesticides and herbicides. These materials are milled in factories that respect all human life. They are coloured with non-toxic dyes. Some materials I re-purpose from bedding, curtains and vinage/thrifted yardage. This extends the life of that material, keeping it out of landfills.

The clothing I sew is simple on purpose. The goal of that simplicity is outlasting trends and being easily passed on or shared with friends and siblings. Simple additions like longer cuffs and extra buttons allow my children & baby clothes to grow with your little ones.

I hope you find what you are looking for and please don't hesitate to ask any questions you may have!
Love,
Debbi

Frequently asked questions
Size Chart for Bloomers

The nature of cotton is to soften with each wash, this also means it will shrink slightly over time. I pre-wash & dry all of my fabric prior to sewing to help with shrinkage. Cold water and low heat are the best way to reduce shrinking in your items.

Gift wrapping and packaging

If you are sending your purchase as a gift I will happily send it straight to it's destination for you at no extra charge. Simply include the name and shipping destination in your message to shop owner.

Fit info for Organic Bandana Bibs

All of my organic bandana bibs come in one size fits all. With two KAM snaps they can be adjusted as your child grows. On average one bib will fit your baby from newborn up until 18-24 months. The neck circumference adjusts from 10.5 inches up to 13 inches. I am happy to make a custom size, so please contact me if you have an especially petite or chubby cutie patootie😊

What does GOTS mean?

GOTS stands for the Global Organic Textile Standard. It is a certification that I deeply value as I know I can trust that the cloth I use in my products is free from harmful chemicals and that working environments are healthy, fair & safe.

" The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is the worldwide leading textile processing standard for organic fibres, including ecological and social criteria, backed up by independent certification of the entire textile supply chain."
