On the first burn, let the candle burn until the wax pool reaches the edge of the container. This will ensure an even burn and prevent tunneling.

Trim the wick to 1/4 inch before each burn to prevent soot and ensure a clean burn.

Keep the candle away from drafts, as this can cause uneven burning and shorten the lifespan of the candle.

Burn the candle for no more than 4 hours at a time to prevent overheating and ensure a longer burn time.

Always keep the wax pool free of debris, such as wick trimmings, matches, or any other objects, as this can cause the candle to burn improperly.

Never leave a burning candle unattended and keep it out of reach of children and pets.

We recommend burning your candles within 1 year for peak performance, as we do not use any preservatives.

Your candle can tunnel if you extinguish the flame before its optimal burn time, leaving a literal ‘tunnel’ around the outside. This leftover wax means your candle won’t achieve its maximum burn potential and can become difficult to light later on. We never want that to happen, so please ensure you are burning your candle until the entire top layer is liquid wax. This way it will set evenly with no tunelling.

Good question, we’re all about sustainability at Ember + Ivory. To properly clean your jar, first you’ll want to remove any additional wax on the inside of the jar. You can do this by heating up your jar in low simmering water to melt the wax. Once melted, discard the wick and add a little bit of water so it sets to a firm block. Remove the block of wax with a fork, then wash the inside with some soap and water.
