YNT STUDIO - OUR STORY
YNT Studio is a space for creating unique, stylish and useful accessories that are born out of my passion for materials, texture, colors and functional solutions. My work is the result of an artisan, humble in her ambitious pursuit of both perfectionism and inspiration.
I founded YNT Studio in 2020 with the purpose of sharing my designs for unique items that are functional, high quality, useful, effective, and above all, stylish. The Studio is the next chapter in my life, evolving from a lifelong pursuit of using my creative and problem-solving skills on a personal level in fine arts (I have a BA in studio art), painting, sculpture, pottery, home design, furniture making, catering, home renovation, kitchen and bathroom design and clothes making.
YNT Studio’s first product is a line of highly-stylish and unique stitched and embroidered fingerless gloves for women who care about design, value items that represent their unique tastes and revel is adding flair to their casual and dressed up outfits, Winter, Spring and Fall. I created these gloves for myself and friends who wanted warmth without the inconvenience of fingered gloves, but couldn’t find any stylish choices. As an artist, my goal is to create glove designs that have never been seen before, and can’t be forgotten. Now, I am pleased to offer them to a wider audience.
My passion for glove making was both accidental and predictable. While I never thought about the need for custom gloves before, I have had a love affair with fabrics and textile-making since being young and inspired by the work of my mother, grandmother and many aunts. My mother was an especially skilled seamstress who made us custom clothes, and I grew up helping and watching her while learning the quality of good work and good fabrics.
In my native home of Turkey (I split my time between New York and Istanbul), making amazing home-made textiles, often with intricate needlework, is part tradition, part necessity, part inspiration. Nightgowns to dresses, hats and blankets, napkins to bed sheets, across the generations, Turkish women, like many in traditional societies around the world, create one-of-a-kind pieces, both functional and artistic. I honor them with my work and attention to detail, but take a decidedly modernistic approach that would be unrecognizable to any but the most visionary of them.
YNT Studio’s gloves are more than a business. They are an expression of my life and my values as I pursue each step of my creative journey. Every day, while creating my designs, I learn a little more about the art of design, collecting information on how and what to create, picking up inspiration from the world of haute couture fashion. A little stitching, a little design, a new fabric all inspire me. There isn’t anything more exciting for me than creating a new design, pairing new materials and unexpected colors and shapes, and sharing them with our customers.
As a enterprise, YNT Studio is a fun and ethical work environment, supporting the women who help produce our products, and contributing to my passions of gender equality, animal rights and our environment. The goal is to bring beauty and comfort to women, while being my platform for positivity in this world.
