TRAY STORY BY BERRY - TEEN YEAR FASCINATION TO ADULT LIFE ETSY STORE
As a child, I was captivated by the skilled work of artisans crafting wooden objects. Watching them expertly cut, mold, and perfect the wood was fascinating and inspiring. The smell of sawdust or the sound of the tools cutting through the wood was unforgettable. So, during college, I turned to woodworking to help my cousin with home renovations and earn some extra money. I even created kitchen cabinets and other wooden objects.
Fast forward to 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, and I was forced to work from home. I searched online for office desks, but they were too expensive, and the lead time was several months. That's when I decided to build my desk and purchased some tools to do so. Thankfully, I was successful in building a functional desk, which was a great relief. I also built bookshelves to create a permanent place for my books, and I was thrilled to find the perfect shelf to display my treasures.
In 2021, with my newfound passion for woodworking, I noticed my friend's uneven ottoman, which had no place for coffee. I built an ottoman tray so he could serve his guests, and matching coasters to enhance the beauty of the living room. The quality of my products impressed my friend and gave me the idea to start an Etsy store. As a child, I was fascinated by skilled artisans crafting beautiful wooden objects. Watching them expertly cut, mold, and perfect the wood was both inspiring and captivating. In just three days and with basic tools, I was able to construct a tray and coasters. What surprised me was that major e-commerce companies had a backlog of similar, yet more costly, products. Being able to create high-quality items in less time and at a lower cost prompted me to start my journey on Etsy in 2022.
