The Corn Patch
Hey there, my name's Matt 😃
When I was a kid, growing up on a small Ontario farm, my parents encouraged me to start a corn patch one summer. I mapped out its boundaries, removed the sod, tilled and tended the soil, sowed the kernels, and with the additions of water, sunlight, dedication, and patience, watched my little corn patch grow into something that I was incredibly proud of.
As it was growing, I would visit regularly to inspect the plants, walking up and down adjacent rows, diligently removing weeds as I went. When the corn was ready, I'd harvest it, organize cobs into groups of twelve, and then sell those at a small stand I had set up at the end of our farm's laneway.
Beyond providing me with some extra money to supplement my weekly allowance, that experience taught me about the value of hard work and planning, showed me how rewarding it could be to watch something that I'd started germinate and grow, and gave me a tangible example of (literally) reaping what I sowed. It was also incredibly gratifying to be able to provide something of value to others through my efforts.
That corn patch was my first entrepreneurial endeavour, and it's now my source of inspiration for this new entrepreneurial journey. Thank you for being here, and for reading my story. I hope you find something of value here that brings you happiness. If there's anything I can do to further help with that, please let me know!
Cheers!
Matt
