Elm Tree Clay was created after more than 10 years spent spinning mud. While a geology major in college, I fulfilled an art requirement with a pottery course and was immediately hooked. After a many-year hiatus upon graduating and life experiences, my now-husband found a local pottery studio and I started taking lessons. Participating in the near weekly sessions provides a creative outlet which helped balance my geology consulting career and has followed me through becoming a wife and mother. Recently I’ve altered my career path, putting consulting on hold to better focus on life outside the 9-to-5.
Elm Tree Clay wares are intended to be used and enjoyed every day - my focus is to create functional pieces from which to eat and drink. Knowing a piece brings a smile to someone’s face brings joy to my heart. All my pieces are handcrafted either at my local studio or in my tiny basement home studio and fired at the local studio. Nature provides inspiration and I am drawn to natural and earthy-tone colors on simple forms. My pieces are created out of mid- or high-fire stoneware clay in a variety of clay-body colors. I use lead-free glaze options and most of my wares are food safe, unless otherwise noted.

5 out of 5 starsI’m so happy with this beautiful planter! It was a perfect birthday gift for my sister and she absolutely loves it. It’s gorgeous and the seller was amazing. I had concerns about the shipping time because I wanted it to arrive in time for my sisters birthday, so I messaged the seller to ask about it. She was extremely nice and made sure that it was shipped and delivered with plenty of time to spare. The packaging was very secure and wrapped so nicely that I didn’t even put it in separate gift paper to give to my sister. I also appreciated the absence of plastic packaging! Overall, I couldn’t say more positive things about my experience with this shop.
