My story starts the way many do with a few twists and turns along the way. I, Andrew, the owner and craftsman behind HatchMade, was born at a very young age into a family where the do it yourself attitude was very prevalent. I grew up helping my father around the farm and working on the family sawmill. Having access to an almost endless supply of wood I started building the most important thing I could think of... A fort. Having ran through several iterations before arriving at the perfect conglomeration of defensive and offensive capabilities I learned the value of craftsmanship and proper joinery.
Fast forward through the years I worked in construction to pay for my education and ended up marrying my best friend. After 10 years of post secondary education, My best friend and I bought our first home. Then the years of tinkering and learning were given a place to be fully unleashed. Having a large shop and acres of trees on our property I quickly fell down the hole of tool acquisition disorder, all in the name of home renovations... Soon I was the proud owner of a fully outfitted shop and bandsaw mill.
Despite years of post secondary education I soon found that working with my hands and expressing my creativity brought far more fulfillment than my current career path.
