Hola, soy Tanya.
Nací y crecí en un pequeño pueblo de Ontario en una familia de fabricantes: mi padre y mi abuelo, constructores y agricultores; mi madre y mi abuela, costureras y agricultoras.
El primer par de pendientes que hice fue en 1989. Eran cuentas amarillas de neón con forma de arcos de pelo de Emma Wiggle, colgando de un solo mechón de "gimp" negro, y atadas en un nudo en la parte inferior, creo, para evitar que la cuenta se cayera. No tengo idea de cómo los sujeté a mis oídos. Treinta y tres años después, me complace decir que sigo siendo la misma persona: diseño, creación, fabricación y intercambio de todas las cosas, especialmente en colores brillantes con acentos negros.
Ya sea que esté diseñando y haciendo joyas, o cosiendo ropa, accesorios y ropa íntima, siempre estoy pensando en las necesidades de la persona que hace el uso: sentirse hermosa, sí, pero también, sentirse cómoda y segura.
Soy escritora, costurera de tercera generación y diseñadora de joyas autodidacta. Me encanta la asimetría, la forma en que los colores brillantes resaltan contra el negro y la moda minimalista mezclada con joyas maximalistas. Más recientemente, me he enamorado de la yuxtaposición de cristales, perlas, metales cálidos y fríos, y picos.

Hi, I’m Tanya.
I was born and raised in small town Ontario to a family of makers: my father and grandfather, builders and farmers; my mother and grandmother, seamstresses and farmers.
The first pair of earrings I made was in 1989. They were neon yellow beads shaped like Emma Wiggle hair bows, dangling from a single strand of black “gimp,” and tied in a knot at the bottom, I think, to keep the bead from falling off. I have no idea how I fastened them to my ears. Thirty-three years later I’m happy to say I’m still the same person—designing, creating, making, and sharing all the things, especially in bright colours with black accents.
Whether I’m designing and making jewelry, or sewing clothing, accessories, and intimate apparel, I am always thinking about the needs of the person doing the wearing: to feel beautiful, yes, but also, to feel comfortable and confident.
I am a writer, third-generation seamstress, and self-taught jewelry designer. I love asymmetry, the way bright colours pop against black, and minimalist fashion mixed with maximalist jewelry. Most recently, I’ve become enamored with the juxtaposition of crystals, pearls, warm and cold metals, and spikes.
