About JP MAROU
The founder of JP MAROU, Nneka J. Penniston, was born in Trinidad and Tobago and moved to Brooklyn, New York, in April 1996. There, under her grandmother's loving tutelage, she took health, fitness, and fashion seriously — dreaming of wearable, comfortable fitness clothing for women.
In 2022, after a life-changing trip to Rio de Janeiro for Brazil's first post-pandemic Carnaval, JP MAROU was born. Her community of powerful women needed activewear as strong and dynamic as they are: clothing that enhances movement and adds rhythm to wellness. The mission? Ignite the fire within all women to move and feel their best. The impassioned dancer logo invites every woman to express her natural fire, strength, and wisdom.
CODE FASHIONABLY, the sister brand, blends Nneka's fashion passion with data science. Born from real retail datasets and machine learning, the brand features the Code Fashionably book and Udemy course — Fashion Analytics & Machine Learning for Business Impact — designed for analysts, product managers, and career changers.
