The Birth of MindfulMagicPlanner Etsy Shop
Hello dear, I'm Aliya. I'm a stay-at-home mama to three little girls who are all currently under the age of 5. The past year (2021) has been rough and I have struggled hard with depression and anxiety trying to find balance, brightness, and joy amidst a 2 year long pandemic and the isolating thankless job of taking care of my girls. Creating this shop is part of my journey back to myself via a creative and engaging outlet to pour myself into away from screaming toddlers, poopy diapers, and toy tornadoes. I have no formal training in graphic design and am self taught. I spent my adult education learning acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, and massage therapy. For a myriad of reasons, after 5 years of treating patients I have been unable to continue practicing as a licensed acupuncturist and so I find myself here, with you now. And honestly it feels right.
Some random notes about me include I am mixed race of 1/2 Asian Indian, 1/4 Hispanic, and 1/4 Black. I am enthusiastically supportive of the beautiful wave of representation of non-whites across all visual platforms. As much as I adore and cheer all the black girls who are finally beginning to see themselves in art and media on the tail of the Black Lives Matter movement, I long to also portray women who are neither white or black but mixed race like myself.
Always feeling like I did not belong taught me to cultivate a deep appreciation and tolerance for anyone who feels "different" and therefore systemically disadvantaged. Whether it be because of race, sexual identity or orientation, family structure, spiritual beliefs, or lifestyle preferences you deserve a place to belong too. I see you.
So cheers to you wherever you are, whoever you are, and whatever season of life you are in. You deserve to create the life you imagine! I hope you find something you love in my shop to provide a tiny piece of mindful magic that can help you make that happen.
Thanks for reading, friend. -Aliya
