How it started
Crafting for friends and family was always something I did, even as a kid. I created my own cards for holidays and birthdays. I would learn how to make candles or soap to gift to friends. Then I started learning how to write calligraphy. I began practicing on paper and then eventually moved to a canvas. When canvas was not enough, I expanded my resources to wood, metal, and then digital.
In college I joined a sorority. DPhiE!! The demand for crafting was at an all time high in the sorority house. Girls would need signs for their Littles, Littles would need plaques for their Bigs. Everyday I was painting and crafting on cups, paper, wood, doors, you name it, I painted on it.
After I graduated I found that my hobby of crafting was still needed. I had friends who wanted wedding signs, soon to be mothers who wanted quotes over their babies cribs. After making a sign for friend who was having a baby she said to me "you should start selling this." The words I have been hearing for years.... But how do I even start that?
Well, I made an Etsy. Like any other 20 something year old girl did. But how do I sell on it? That part I am still working out!
I may be a millennial but I am not as tech savvy as I thought. I create signs for people who want them. So it is hard to post something if no one has asked me to make it for them yet. My inspiration comes from Pinterest. Most of the time I have a friend or coworker show me a picture of what they want, but they change it around. I work with that and then create what they want.
I take my time with each piece of artwork because I want to make something that I would hang in my own house. Everything is unique because the client can change the color or font. Send a picture of your inspiration to me and lets get working on a craft together! Something designed from start to finish has way more meaning then something picked out of a clearance pile!
