Small House Studio is an independent art and clothing practice based in London, shaped by a journey that began in San Francisco and continued through Edinburgh.
Each piece is designed as a one-of-a-kind expression inspired primarily by the natural world and translated through hand-carved linocuts which are printed onto fabric using oil-based inks. No two prints are ever the same, giving every garment and patch its own distinct character.
Every design begins by hand. Linocut printing is a slow, tactile process - carved, inked, and pressed individually - embracing imperfection and the individuality that comes with it. Garments are carefully sourced second-hand, extending the life of existing materials rather than contributing to the 92 million tonnes of textile waste produced each year. Wherever possible, Small House Studio prioritises natural fibres such as cotton, linen, and wool — materials that reduce microplastic pollution while allowing the body to breathe and regulate temperature more naturally than synthetic alternatives.
Humans are not separate from the natural world, but part of it. By taking care of our environment, we take care of ourselves. Small House Studio is one small step toward a slower, more thoughtful approach to consumption, creating pieces with purpose, and keeping them in use for longer.
