Ich liebe Papier und alles, was mit Kunst und Handwerk zu tun hat. :-)

Papier. Schere. Klebstoff. Perlen. Faden. Karton. Pappe. Stifte
Das ist eine Liste der Dinge, die mich täglich umgeben. Die Dinge, mit denen ich gerne spiele. Die Dinge, die ich in andere Dinge verwandle.
Ich habe es schon immer geliebt, Dinge zu basteln. Schon als kleines Kind schnitt ich Formen aus Tonpapier aus, klebte sie auf andere Papierstücke und präsentierte sie dann meiner Mutter, als wären es Kunstwerke, die es wert wären, im Louvre ausgestellt zu werden.
Wo wir gerade vom Louvre sprechen: Ich habe mal für ein Schulprojekt ein maßstabsgetreues Modell des Gebäudes aus Pappmaché gebaut. Wir mussten es auf der Ladefläche des Ford-Pickups meines Großvaters (Baujahr 1953) zur Schule transportieren. Ich habe eine Eins bekommen.
Ich zeichne unheimlich gern, riesige abstrakte Bilder voller winziger Kreise, Quadrate und Dreiecke. Und Comicfiguren, alberne Gestalten mit großen Nasen (wie Jerry der Hofnarr, mein Avatar), mürrische Katzen, verrückte Vögel und alles, was mich sonst noch zum Schmunzeln bringt. Hin und wieder zeichne ich auch ein Porträt, und meine Lieblingstechnik dafür ist der Pointillismus.
Also fing ich an, ACEO-Rohlinge für andere Künstler herzustellen, die gerne zeichnen und malen, aber das Zuschneiden eigener Karten nicht so mochten. Dann begann ich, Papier und Karton in andere Formen und Größen zu schneiden. Irgendwann entdeckte ich Scrapbooking-Papier und entwarf einige Briefumschlagvorlagen (einige meiner Umschläge wurden sogar in dem Lark-Buch „Pushing the Envelope“ abgebildet). Ein paar Jahre später habe ich unzählige Briefumschläge hergestellt; und ich bin eine richtige Sammlerin, was Scrapbooking-Papier angeht.
Und hier bin ich.
Ich habe nicht mehr viel Zeit zum Zeichnen (wenn ich nicht gerade Papier und Karton zerschneide, bastele ich mit Perlen für meinen anderen Shop, time2cre8). Aber irgendwann werde ich es wieder tun.

That's a list of the things that surround me every day. The things I love to play with. The things I turn into other things.
I've always loved to make things. Always. From way back when I was little, cutting out shapes from construction paper, pasting the shapes to other pieces of paper, and then presenting them to my Mom as if they were artworks worthy of being hung in the Louvre.
Speaking of the Louvre, I once made a scale model of the building using paper mache, for a school project. We had to take it to school in the back of my grandfather's 1953 Ford pickup truck. I got an A.
I love to draw, giant abstract drawings filled with teeny tiny circles, squares, and triangles. And cartoony characters, silly people with big noses (like Jerry the Jester, my avatar), surly cats, crazy birds, and whatever else gives me a chuckle. Every once in awhile I draw a portrait, and my favorite technique for those is pointillism.
So I started making ACEO blanks for other people who like to draw and paint but didn't so much like the process of cutting their own art cards. And then I started cutting up paper and cards into other shapes and sizes. At some point I "discovered" scrapbooking papers, and I designed some envelope templates (some of my envelopes were even featured in a Lark book, Pushing the Envelope). A few years later, I've made countless thousands of envelopes; and I'm a hoarder when it comes to scrapbooking papers.
And here I am.
I don't have much time to draw any more (when I'm not cutting up paper and cards, I'm playing with beads for my other shop, time2cre8). But I will again someday.
