A book in which to store all your possibilities.
These roughly passport-notebook-sized magpie books are about 5 x 6", softcover, covered on both sides with fabric, with original collage covers. The edges have all been pinked and lightly sanded by hand to make them look worn and aged and artfully tattered, but the double-row of stitching means they won't fray too far. They'll slowly age, giving the book even more patina.
There's no general theme for this round, other than being made of stuff that's just slightly less printed than previous rounds. There's still some printed pages (graph, vintage book pages, or maps, for instance) so you have a starting point for those days when a blank page is scary, but there are plenty (more than half!) of the pages that are made of textured drawing paper, dyed plain paper, very light graph, or kraft-colored papers so there's room for your words and pictures. There are even some hand dyed pages in this round, dyed with indigo, so you can use your opaque materials with them.
To make closing your chunky book easy, I've gone back to double ties on the fore-edge. No matter how much collage you cram your book full of, the double ties will keep it all safe and secure, even in your bag.
(as a sidenote: I also took feedback on how you work on the pages to heart. There are decidedly fewer glossy pages now, if any at all, so ALL media will work better on most pages. Collage-ists can still magpie it up with a glue-stick, but sketchers and painters will be able to use more pages without having to prepare the surface, making it easier to create on the fly. Make ALL the art!)
This round is more booklike than junk drawer-ish, so I've kept the interactive elements to a minimum, leaving the pages more open for your creation. There are still some fabric tabs and things clipped to the sides, but folks really wanted to be able to use their *own* elements -- and I listened. This is a container for YOUR creativity.
Each book is approximately 72 pages. I say "approximately" because once I get started, sometimes I have trouble stopping. (I'm sure you can relate. I think this is common among artists...) We'll just say that I was aiming for 72 pages and sometimes made more like 90 pages instead, because I. Could. Not. Stop. Myself. sometimes.
There are still tiny little jump-start collage bundles in every book.
These are perfect for gluebooking, art journaling, or pasting in bits of written text....essentially, they're just great receptacles for all of your varied snippets of creative expression.
