Our baskets are all made from sustainable natural materials and are handmade.

Fair trade has been the basis of our daily work for almost 50 years. We source all goods exclusively from our partner workshops in the global south, which we visit regularly and also promote outside of retail.

Our partner organization in Bangladesh supports around 2,500 women and 100 men who are involved in the production of basketry, directly in their villages. The vast majority of the craftsmen work in agriculture alongside basket weaving. This means that we have to take into account the special working hours - three months a year are lost in basket production for the harvest alone - but this prevents rural exodus and preserves decent jobs.
All raw materials come from Bangladesh - no materials are imported. The producers of our basketry receive an above-average price for their goods and are also supported as needed to improve living and working conditions, in the event of illness and in the schooling of children. The women in particular receive help in setting up their own bank accounts and are encouraged to set up financial reserves for bad times or for their own personal further education.
