The wood we used to make this Montessori Object permanence box is from Romania and it's FSC Certified, which means that when you buy it you "are helping to ensure our forests are alive for generations to come" (the wood comes from a well managed forest).
When we disappear from the baby's visual range, for him that means we have disappeared. You may have noticed that if you hide an object from your baby, up to a certain age he will not search for it. He will believe, whether he has disappeared permanently, or he will not think he can take away the object that covers him.
But there comes a time when the baby begins to understand the permanence of the objects. To understand that they do not disappear if he does not see them, but they still exist. Which fascinates him.
The object permanence box is a typical Montessori material. The baby is fascinated by it as the ball he puts in the hole disappears for a moment, but then appears in the box tray. It's a material that catches his attention for a long time, he can put the ball in the hole a dozen times doesn't get bored.
The object permanence box is good for the eye hand coordination, repetitive activity, auditory stimulation.
This object permanence box has an internal ramp that lets the ball slide out even if placed on an unfair surface.
