¡Encontrando mi vena creativa!
Finding my creative streak!
Después de una vida en el altamente técnico mundo de las telecomunicaciones e Internet, finalmente me jubilé anticipadamente para cambiar el lado izquierdo analítico de mi cerebro por el lado derecho creativo y me convertí en fotógrafo a tiempo completo a partir de 2008. En lugar de centrarme en la fotografía de bodas o retratos, elegí un campo menos conocido: la concesión de licencias de mis imágenes a importantes revistas, empresas, sitios web y medios de comunicación. En los últimos 5 años, he aumentado mi cartera a más de 20.000 imágenes que ya se han utilizado en todo el mundo más de 400.000 veces.
Hace unos años, decidí cambiar mi enfoque y tratar de llevar alegría a las personas que buscan una imagen de un lugar que aman para decorar su hogar y permitirles revivir esos recuerdos a través de la fotografía. Tal vez fue el lugar al que llamaban hogar, su playa favorita que visitaron por primera vez en su luna de miel o simplemente la universidad de la que se graduaron. ¡Una gran fotografía puede desencadenar esos recuerdos cada vez que la mires!
Así, he reducido mis 20.000 fotografías a las que son realmente mis favoritas y las que creo que capturan un lugar o una escena con la mejor luz posible. A menudo se piensa que un fotógrafo necesita el mejor equipo para capturar una gran foto. Pero ese no es el caso: la paciencia es a menudo la habilidad clave que se necesita. La paciencia para ignorar la toma si la luz es aburrida o algo está arruinando la composición. Levantarse antes del amanecer para capturar los primeros rayos del sol en la escena puede aportar ese algo extra que convierte una instantánea en una obra de arte. En todas mis fotografías, trato de encontrar ese elusivo extra que agrega brillo a la obra.

After a lifetime in the highly technical world of telecommunications and the internet, I finally took early retirement to swap the analytical left side of my brain for the creative right side and I became a full-time photographer starting in 2008. Rather than focusing on wedding or portrait photography, I chose a less well-known field in the licensing of my images to major magazines, companies, websites and media companies. In the past 5 years, I've built my portfolio to over 20,000 images that have now been used worldwide over 400,000 times!
A few years ago, I decided to change my focus and try to bring joy to individual people who are looking for an image of a place they love to decorate their home and allow them to relive those memories through the photograph. Perhaps it was the place they called home, their favorite beach they first visited on their honeymoon, or just the college they graduated from. A great photograph can trigger those memories each time you glance up at it!
And so, I have whittled my 20,000 photos down to the ones that are truly my favorites and ones that I believe capture a place or a scene in the absolute best light. It is often thought that a photographer needs the best equipment to capture a great photo. But that isn't the case - patience is often the key skill that is needed. The patience to ignore the shot if the light is boring, or something is spoiling the composition. Getting up before sunrise to capture the first rays of the sun on the scene might bring that extra something that turns a snapshot into a work of art. In all my photographs, I try to find that elusive extra that adds the sparkle to the work.
