City girl turns Country Mouse
I have been making jewellery since I was four years old, crafting giant earrings from Friendly Plastic and Fimo with my mom and sister. After my fine arts degree in textile and video editing, I took up silversmithing classes and fell in love with silver. I started to teach myself and quickly launched Brazen Design in 2007 with the help of a Montreal Mayor's Award for Entrepreneurship.
As someone who has battled with chronic illness, I have turned more and more to nature for peace and perspective. I have been inspired by the forms of pinecones, seeds and acorns, and these forms started popping up in my work, and I developed a technique for casting real pinecones into wonderful pendants.
Last year, my partner and I actually made the big move and bought a big ol' house in the country! We have a collaborative project, Blisscraft&Brazen, over at http://blisscraftandbrazen.etsy.com, where we make sustainable home decor items from the scraps of our wood and metal shops!
I do a lot of custom work, and it brings me joy to manifest my clients' vision into reality!
