Hello and Welcome!
I'm happy you've stopped by my Etsy shop! I've been a full-time professional artist since 1999. A graduate of the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, I've worked in various media, including graphic arts, stained glass mosaic, and complex framed work of manipulated paper and found objects. By pairing my graphic design background, my natural feel for color, and my contemporary design sensibility with line and form, I have produced truly unique, captivating pieces of artwork. I've won numerous awards for my body of work and have participated in nationally ranked exhibitions such as The Smithsonian Craft Show in Washington DC, The Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft Show in Philadelphia, and the Cherry Creek Arts Festival in Denver, Colorado. Set designers in the 2010 movie “How Do You Know”, which starred Jack Nicholson, Reese Witherspoon, Owen Wilson and Paul Rudd, have also used my framed artwork.
My artistic background and a vision for making colorful, graphic earrings sent me on a path to a year of research, learning new technologies and experimenting with metals before creating an innovative jewelry line. My designs are geometric, simple yet bold. Each piece is a unique balance of organic curves, simplified shapes, architectural lines, abundant textures and colors that gracefully work together. I use traditional screen printing techniques to create background textures before layering them into my digital design file and new dye transfer technologies to embed each design into the surface of the metal. I use lightweight, hypoallergenic metals and traditional jewelry techniques to cut, sand, distress and assemble each piece to the highest quality. It is my hope that this is a new voice in jewelry design.
I bring my passion for color and design to my jewelry line so you can enjoy pieces on a personal level everyday. I love creating modern organic shapes and designing funky asymmetrical earrings because, well, being different can be fun! I'm inspired by nature, architectural lines from both past and present, balance and texture. But, color is my true love! I really do believe that sometimes all you need is a little color in your life and I hope you find it here! :)
Cheers! -Karyn
