Greenthumb Collective Alocasia Chonk and Corm Care Instructions

UPON ARRIVAL

1. Take a video of the unboxing process from start to finish. The video may be too long to send on Instagram so please email it to greenthumbcollective@outlook.com if necessary.
2. If you fail to take a video of the unboxing process within 8 hours of delivery, we cannot work with you for a refund or replacement in the unlikely event there is a problem with your new plant.
3. Very gently unpackage your new plants with care. Squeezing or crushing the package may cause damage to the plant inside the cup.
4. Immediately upon opening the package, your corm or chonk may be covered in Stratum, which is black, and may look like a black liquid or dirt. This is normal so do not be alarmed.
5. Gently remove the plant from the cup and rinse it off in room temperature water and be sure not to damage any roots or growth points.
6. If you damage the growth points or roots, the plant will have a very difficult time growing and there is a possibility of it never recovering and regrowing.
7. Place the plant back into the cup with fresh Stratum and gently mist the top layer so it is moist but not waterlogged.
8. You must ensure there is no standing water in the cup or this can rot the plant, especially if it is a chonk.
9. Ensure you take additional videos and/or photos of the plant after it is rinsed off and in the new Stratum and send it to our Instagram, Etsy or email address.

CORMS

1. Alocasia corm growing instructions:
* Alocasia corms thrive in warm, humid conditions with bright, indirect light. They should be kept in a location where they receive filtered sunlight or artificial grow lights.
* The ideal temperature for Alocasia plants is between 76-81°F. Avoid placing them near drafts, heaters, or air conditioning vents.
* Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Water the plants thoroughly when the of soil feels dry to the touch, and ensure that excess water can drain freely from the pot.
* Maintain high humidity (70-78%) around the plants by misting them or using a humidifier.
2. Care and Maintenance:
* Regularly inspect the plants for signs of mold and pests such as spider mites, aphids, or mealybugs. If any pests are present, treat the plants with an appropriate pesticide or insecticidal soap.
* Alocasia plants can benefit from occasional pruning to remove yellowing or damaged outer layers or leave. Use a clean sterilized scalpel to make clean cuts if necessary.
* Repot the plants as necessary in a fresh medium of your choice.
* During the dormant season in late fall or winter, reduce watering and allow the plants to rest. Place them in a cooler location with reduced light to encourage dormancy.

CHONKS

1. Ensure the chonk remains on the top layer of the soil and ensure it is not buried. If buried in soil, they are much more prone to rot due to the high amounts of moisture.
2. Place the chonk in a warm, bright location with indirect sunlight or artificial grow lights. Alocasia prefer temperatures between 76-81°F and high humidity (70-78%). You can increase humidity by placing the pot on a humidity tray or by using a humidifier.
3. Check the chonk regularly for signs of growth, such as new leaves emerging from the node. It may take several weeks to months for the cutting to establish roots and begin growing. Be patient and continue to provide optimal care for the plant.
4. Transplant as needed: Once the cutting has established roots and is growing well, you can transplant it into a larger pot with fresh growing medium of your choice. Continue to care for the plant as it matures, providing adequate water, light, and humidity.

We ship all of our plants healthy and with no known defects. Please be aware that shipping live plants have related risks. Plants have imperfections and some species tend to lose leaves and/or yellow leaves due to shipping stress. Please remain positive as these plants need time to recover. Rotting of the roots is also common with shipment. Cuttings are prone to rotting if they are delayed in transit, so keep that in mind when purchasing a plant.

Plants are live and perishable. When they are shipped, there is a variety of factors that contribute to damage or plant death. These factors include high temperatures, shipping delays and mishandling or the loss of the package by the shipping courier.

By purchasing this plant you agree to the policies stated in this listing:

Plants will be shipped Monday to Wednesday to avoid shipping delays over the weekend. They will be shipped semi bare root wrapped in lightly damp spaghum moss. Processing time is 3-5 business days after you place your order.

What happens if my plant arrives damaged due to delays, temperature or mishandling/loss of the package by the shipping courier? Most packages are insured up to $100 with the shipping courier, NOT the SHOP. If there is any plant damage caused by the shipping process that falls under the responsibility of the shipping courier, they are liable for the shipping delay and damage.

The buyer will have to file a claim directly with the shipping courier (USPS/UPS/FedEx/DHL) to claim any type of reimbursement from them. This applies to lost or stolen packages as well, the shipping courier is liable (not the shop or Etsy). It is the responsibility of the buyer to submit the claim with the shipping courier (USPS/UPS/FedEx/DHL).

Once the plant arrives to you in a healthy condition, we are no longer responsible for the care or health of the plant.

In the event you cancel your purchase, we require the buyer to pay a one-time restocking fee of $20.
