Last year my friend, softball teammate, and “Slackers” coach stepped into the batters’ box to battle breast cancer. Thank God she fought like a girl and came out a champ!

Little did I know that I was on-deck in that batting order. Seems it’s my turn to step into the batters’ box to battle breast cancer myself. My doctor has lead me to believe it’s the most common type of breast cancer with 100% curable rate (I like those odds!) With a little luck and with God’s grace, I can come out a winner like my friend Cheryl.

I would like to take the opportunity to urge all of my friends (and their friends and family too) to go get a mammogram. Don’t put it off. Early detection is a good thing.
