Anni fa, ho iniziato a collezionare cose che potevo trasmettere agli altri per farli sentire meglio e cose di cui avevo bisogno quando il mio atteggiamento aveva bisogno di essere modificato. Alcuni avevano la forma di una poesia, a volte solo un verso di una poesia, una citazione o una frase di una canzone. Altri erano scritti importanti che pensavo i miei figli dovessero conoscere. Alcuni li ho scritti io stesso. Erano tutti tesori, facilmente persi nelle pile o mai scoperti.
Un Natale, mio figlio mi ha costruito un computer e mia figlia mi ha suggerito di aprire un negozio Etsy. Non avevo mai sentito parlare di Etsy e non sapevo niente di un computer. Dopo aver attraversato curve di apprendimento molto dolorose, ho iniziato ad aggiungere font straordinari a quei tesori, poi disegni, bordi e bellissime carte e cornici! E quello fu l'inizio del mio negozio.
Ci sono eventi e circostanze della vita che hanno il potere di distruggere. Il modo in cui reagiamo è importante. Molte persone sono passate nella mia vita che hanno affrontato momenti difficili, non con comportamenti autodistruttivi o autocommiserazione, ma trovando la loro forza interiore per affrontare in modo costruttivo la mano che gli era stata data. Sono quelle persone che hanno ispirato me e questo negozio.
La mia speranza è che The Bits of Wisdom Shop possa essere un rifugio per qualcuno nei guai... sopraffatto, depresso, bisognoso di convalida, concentrazione, ispirazione, motivazione - offrendo articoli (o forse solo i messaggi che trasmettono) che possono aiutare ad affrontare alcuni dei momenti brutti e godersi quelli belli.

Years ago, I began collecting things I could pass on to others to make them feel better - and things I needed when my attitude needing adjusting. Some were in the form of a poem, sometimes just a line from a poem, a quote, or a phrase from a song. Others were important writings I thought my children should know about. Some I wrote myself. All were treasures, so easily lost in the piles or never discovered at all.
One Christmas, my son built a computer for me, and my daughter suggested I start an Etsy shop. I'd never heard of Etsy and didn't know the first thing about a computer. After struggling through some very painful learning curves, I began adding amazing fonts to those treasures, then art and borders and beautiful papers and frames! And that was the start of my shop.
There are events and circumstances of life that have the power to destroy. How we react to them matters. Many people have passed through my life who coped with the gut wrenching times, not with self-destructive behaviors or self-pity, but by finding their inner strength to deal constructively with the hand that had been dealt. It's those people who've inspired this shop and me.
My hope is that The Bits of Wisdom Shop might be a refuge to someone in trouble.. overwhelmed, depressed, needing validation, focus, inspiration, motivation - by offering items (or maybe just the messages they convey) that may help in coping with some of the bad times and enjoying the good ones.
