While the vast majority of designs are created entirely by the artist and not AI generated, a small number of designs created after 2025 incorporate select AI generated visual elements as reference or source material during the creative process. No AI-generated image is used as a finished design; instead, individual elements are carefully combined, modified, and integrated with original artwork and other design components in Photoshop to create a new, original composition before being handcrafted into the final wooden sign.

Pete Vassilakos, owner and founder of VASSdesign, was born in 1975.
Throughout his life, he has pursued a wide variety of interests and careers. His experiences have included photography, teaching, theatre production (set design, prop design, lighting, audio, pyrotechnics, and stage management), film and video production, travel, woodworking, historical re-enacting, radio, music, aviation services, and of course, art and design.
In 2013, Pete decided to take a leap of faith and turn his creativity into a business. Looking for a way to combine two of his greatest passions - history and art - he founded VASSdesign, creating handcrafted rustic and vintage-inspired wooden signs and décor that celebrate subjects from the past while bringing them to life through artistic and reproduction design.
What began as an ambitious idea soon became a personal mission: to build a successful home-based business doing something he genuinely loves. While the journey has not always been easy, each day brings new opportunities, new challenges, and the satisfaction of creating pieces that connect with people around the world.
Today, every VASSdesign creation is individually handcrafted with care, passion, and attention to detail.
