Recession Home comenzó con un despido laboral y un blog, nacido de la necesidad de expresarme (nombrado en un momento de imaginación inducida por la cafeína: www.recessionhome.com). Ahora, escribo a tiempo completo, pero seguiré publicando aquí de vez en cuando según me lo permita la energía.

Me di cuenta de que aunque era madre de dos hijas pequeñas, nunca había estado ahí para ellas, al 100%. Fue entonces cuando decidí que mi despido de una editorial de la costa este era realmente un regalo. Y ese regalo siguió dando.

Primero, con el tiempo y la inclinación al blog. Y segundo, con el deseo implacable de crear una infancia caprichosa y libre de estrés para mis hijas. Cuando los llevé a ver Enredados en el cine, supe que me había topado con algo especial.

Al salir del teatro, mi hijo mayor declaró que su cumpleaños de la fiesta del té estaba cancelado. Ella quería a Rapunzel para su fiesta de cumpleaños y eso. Rapunzel, la torre, las linternas, todo. Entonces, me puse a imaginar un poco por mi cuenta, y listo. Algunas publicaciones sobre lo que hicimos y cómo lo hicimos, y las solicitudes comenzaron a llegar. ¿Vendí las decoraciones? ¿No? Bueno, ¿entonces vendería el mío?

Y eso, mis amigos, puso en marcha este pequeño negocio. Ahora enredo a tiempo completo. La tienda me da libertad para reinventarme regularmente. Las solicitudes personalizadas son bienvenidas, y cuando un cliente me da una idea para mejorar, agregar o cambiar algo, siempre le devuelvo algo extra.

Una tienda de Etsy de tiempo completo es tanto un desafío como una aventura, envuelta en dedos chamuscados con pistolas de pegamento y lecciones de libre empresa. Mis hijas ayudan y les encanta compartir las operaciones diarias. Crean sus propias fiestas, ¡e incluso (ahora) preparan sus propias decoraciones y comida!

Estoy muy agradecida con esta oportunidad que Etsy ofrece a los comerciantes y espero crear no solo Enredados, sino también otras fiestas a medida que pasa el tiempo.

Recession Home started with a job layoff, and a blog, born of the need to express myself (named in a moment of caffeine induced imagination -- www.recessionhome.com). Now, I'm writing full time, but will still post here from time to time as energy allows.

I realized that though I was mother of two young daughters, I'd never been there for them, 100%. It was then that I decided my layoff from an east coast publishing company was really a gift. And that gift kept on giving.

First, with the time and inclination to blog. And second, with the unrelenting desire to create a whimsical, stress free childhood for my daughters. When I took them to see Tangled in the theater, I knew I'd stumbled upon something special.

Walking out of the theater, my oldest declared that her tea party birthday was off. She wanted Rapunzel for her birthday party, and that. Rapunzel, the tower, the lanterns, everything. So, I set to a little imagineering of my own, and voila. A few posts about what we did and how we did it, and the requests started coming in. Did I sell the decorations? No? Well, then would I sell mine?

And that, my friends, launched this little business. I now Tangle full time. The store gives me freedom to reinvent myself on a regular basis. Custom requests are welcomed, and when a client gives me an idea to improve, add, or change something I always give them back a little something extra.

A full time Etsy store is both a challenge and an adventure, wrapped in glue-gun-singed fingers and free enterprise lessons. My daughters help, and love to share in the day to day operations. They create their own parties, and even (now) prepare their own decorations and food!

I am so grateful to this opportunity that Etsy affords shop keepers, and look forward to crafting not only Tangled, but other parties as time goes by.
