I create cards to bring a smile, kind word, or hug to the recipient.
I grew up in a home where my mother painted and encouraged me to be creative. I, however did not like oil painting, and thought I must not be artistic. When I was older, I discovered acrylic painting on wood. I began going to shows selling my wares, starting a business. As life moved on, children came, and time became crunched, I found that working with paper was much more affordable, allowed me to spend more time with my family, and was more enjoyable. I became obsessed with card making. It is the perfect medium for my creativeness. I began making cards for any occasion a friend or family member had. I kept making cards. I am inspired almost daily by life and people. I had amassed so many cards that I started giving sets away as birthday and Christmas gifts. And still the collection grew. Selling cards on Etsy is a way to share my love and joy of card making with a wider audience than just my friends and family. I feel that giving a card is such a small way of showing people you care. Friends, family, and co workers appreciate knowing they are valued. Giving a card can convey a feeling of love, compassion, joy, humor, sympathy, and gratitude. This is the reason I make cards. I don't want the art of sharing in someones life through cards to become a lost art. With all the technology today, receiving a hand made card still brings a great joy and smile.
